The state of Apple’s iPhone 14 supply chain

It wouldn’t be a real Apple release if there were no supply chain concerns. Over the past few years, we have become accustomed to the general atmosphere of uncertainty that surrounds the production of Apple devices, especially the most popular – namely the iPhone.

It is therefore not surprising that the The iPhone 14 lineup is no exception to the general rule. With Apple’s latest iPhones set to debut in less than 2 months (launch almost always occurs in the first half of September), supply chain issues can be expected at this point.

In a series of tweetsMing-Chi Kuo, a leading tech analyst and well-known Apple expert, pointed out the current state of the supply chain for Apple’s iPhone 14 and, of course, there are some issues.

The good news is that, according to Kuo’s assessment, the supply issues are unlikely to have a significant impact on production. The reasons for this are twofold.

First, the supply chain issues will only affect the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. According to Kuo, the Pro versions of the iPhone 14, which are expected to attract a lot more attention given that they will introduce a major design overhaul for the iPhone, are largely untouched.

Second, only two hardware components are problematic for now. These are the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max memory and panels. In his tweet, Kuo mentions that the latter is hit harder.

In any case, Kuo does not expect any significant delays given that “suppliers can largely fill the initial supply gap”. After all, Apple has had its share of supply chain issues. The company now knows how to deal with it.
