T-Mobile service is completely offline for many East Coast users

T-Mobile has been in the news even more than usual in recent days, both for good reasons and bad (and then good again), but while some people think there is no such thing as bad publicity, the “Un-carrier” will certainly not be happy with the attention it is currently generating on the Internet.

The number of reports on the latter Ookla website alone peaked in the thousands around 1 p.m. ET, and while the curve initially registered a positive downward trajectory, there was another small rise after 2 p.m.

Although not nearly as massive as the infamous outage nearly two years ago, this cellular service interruption is still on the wane (pun intended) at the time of writing in places like New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, and Washington (to name a few ).

As always, user complaints are not all identical, but for the vast majority of those affected T-Mobile customers, calling and texting are currently not working (at all) and mobile internet is spotty at best. Some people can’t get a signal to save their lives and others say that apps that require an internet connection won’t start even though their phone is signaling.

We’ll be sure to monitor any developments over the next few hours, so if you’re affected by this outage and at least you’re able to use Wi-Fi, follow this space for updates… as they come in.
