Everything is really better with friends. Spotify at least seems to be heading for that tangent, hence the latest feature being added to the streaming platform – Friends Mix.
We’ve all been there – mindlessly scrolling through our Spotify playlist so that we end up listening to the same 5 or so songs over and over… again. A fun way to get around that conundrum is to head to the Spotify home screen, which offers a plethora of ways to experience new music.
Enabling users to engage with new artists and titles is one of Spotify’s biggest selling points. Therefore, the company has done its best to refine its personalization algorithm in an effort to create interesting custom playlists for its users.
The Friends Mix feature builds on Spotify Blend, an option already available to users that allows them to generate mixed playlists by inviting a friend. Once your friend accepts the invitation, Spotify will create a special playlist based on the music preferences of both users.
Friends Mix goes one step further. Once you are… mixed… with at least 3 other users (it looks like Spotify 3 is having a blast) the Friends Mix option becomes available. This will generate a brand new custom playlist in the “Made For Us” hub. There, users can find a selection of music that combines all the tastes of their friends.
The Friends Mix is updated daily, meaning users can always find something new to listen to. As an added bonus, they also have a fun conversation starter when they meet up with their friends. What’s not to like?
