It seems that Snapchat is the next social media platform that plans to introduce a paid subscription. Liz Markman, a spokesperson for Snap — the company that owns the platform — confirmed that The edge that Snap is doing early internal testing of a new subscription service for Snapchatters called Snapchat Plus. Unfortunately, Markman has not shared any other information about the new subscription. However, app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi sheds some more light on the potential features Snapchat Plus could have.
Snapchat Plus lets you pin one of your friends as your “#1 BFF”. That is, if you are brave enough to do so. Snapchat Plus also gives you access to exclusive Snapchat icons and displays a badge on your profile, presumably to show other people that you’re a paid subscriber.
Plus, with the premium plan, you can see which of your friends have revisited your story, and if a friend shares their location with you, you can see where they’ve been in the last 24 hours.
So… by subscribing to #snapchat+ you can:
Pin a friend as #1 BFF
Get access to exclusive Snapchat icons
Show a badge in your profile
See your job with BFF
View your friend’s whereabouts in the last 24 hours
See how many friends have re-watched your story— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) June 16, 2022
As for Snapchat Plus prices, Paluzzi said they might be $4.59 a month and $45.99 a year, which translates to about $4.84 a month and $48.50 a year in US dollars. Of course, these may not be the final prices when the service actually launches, so take these numbers with a grain of salt.
