Samsung’s most recent rugged smartphone gets Android 12

While we are only a few months, or maybe even weeks, away from the unveiling another rugged Samsung smartphone, the Xcover 6 Pro, those who own the current model won’t have to wait until then to be happy with their phones.

Samsung has just started rolling out the Galaxy Xcover 5 Android 12 in Europe (via SamMobile), and judging by the changelog of the update, it also comes with One UI 4.1, one of Samsung’s latest versions of the UI. In addition, we also know that the Android 12 update also brings Galaxy Xcover 5 users the May 2022 security patch.

The report doesn’t say which parts of Europe the update is currently available in, but once the rollout has started, it shouldn’t take more than a few weeks to reach all Xcover 5 users. Unless there is something wrong with the update that Samsung is putting it on hold until it is fixed.

In any case, if you rock Samsung’s Galaxy Xcover 5 rugged phone, you should get the Android 12 update with firmware version G525FXXU5BVE5but only if you live in Europe (at least for now).
