Samsung files a patent for an expandable screen: a 2-in-1 Galaxy phone and TV, maybe?

It’s no secret that Samsung loves to innovate and bring exciting new products to the mobile market. 91Mobiles reports now on another possibility for a Samsung phone to attract attention: the South Korean company has applied for a patent for a phone with an expandable display. See!

Samsung patent for a phone with an expandable screen that can be used on both a phone and a TV?!

The patent we are talking about has been filed with WIPO (aka the World Intellectual Property Organization) and is entitled “Expandable display”. As you’ll see from the illustrations in the patent, the device’s screen can expand in all directions.

What’s even nicer about this potential innovation is that the screen extension makes it possible to reveal content that was not visible on a smaller screen. Yes, that screen could technically (probably!) be used on a phone that could be a phone and a TV.

Well, it’s important to mention that with every patent application there is no guarantee that the device will see the light of production and make it to Samsung’s lineup of innovative phones and devices. If so, though, it’ll be another cool innovation from the company to get us excited about.

In addition, there have been rumors that Samsung would release a third phone alongside the Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4, and some speculation talks about a possible roll-up phone (via SamMobile† Well, all we have to do is wait patiently to see what happens… or, more like it, look out for more leaks in the coming weeks.
