Samsung expects the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 to vastly outperform their predecessors

You may not get that idea just looking at the latest quarterly sales report, but the folding market is definitely booming, with Samsung categorically dominating all its rivals around the world.

Not only is this unlikely to change anytime soon, but the largest global smartphone manufacturer seems destined for a huge boost in foldable device shipments in the second half of this year, which could bolster its towering position and possibly even extend its lead over companies like Huawei, Oppo and Motorola.

So much growth ahead

As we all know, the super powerful Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 coming in August, and the combined sales of the two could easily reach 15 million units by early 2023. By some estimates, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 combined will have sold just over 7 million units by 2022, meaning Samsung expects its next-gen foldables to generate more than double the demand from a duo of forerunners that everyone considered a huge box office hit last year.
Of course, it’s not entirely clear whether 15 million is the actual shipping target or just a production target for Samsung by the end of 2022, but either way, the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are likely to hit that sales figure sooner or later, with 18 million on the table as well.
