The Galaxy Z Fold 4 may be lighter than its predecessor. This information was leaked via Twitter by user IceUniverse, a prominent tipster with a proven track record of Samsung products.
In the original tweet, Ice Universe indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will weigh about 254 grams. Compared to the previous generation Fold (which came in at about 271), this is a net decrease of 17 grams.
While this doesn’t seem like a big change, the Galaxy Fold has always been notorious for how clunky the device feels, especially when folded. The thickness of the foldable combined with the sheer weight (which far exceeds even smartphones like the iPhone 13 Pro Max) make the Fold one of the bulkiest smartphones out there.
Therefore, any reduction in thickness or weight that brings the Galaxy Z Fold 4 more in line with other major smartphones is welcome. Even if 17 grams doesn’t seem like much, they will definitely make a difference when handled for extended periods of time.
Given this latest rumor, we can’t help but ask: is there anything we don’t know about the Galaxy Z Fold 4 right now? So far, leaks have revealed the supposed design changes, aspect ratio adjustments, improvements to the pleats, and even the full tech specs.
Of course, all of the above information still falls into the realm of speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, the rumors so far paint a very interesting picture of what we can expect from the next big foldable Samsung.
We are still several months away from the official announcement of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is expected around August. Considering that the device has already gone into mass production, it’s entirely possible that most of what we know so far is true. Everything will be revealed eventually – in time.
