Google has the spiced Pixel 6 and 6 Pro with a new design and the internal Tensor chip and although that helped the phones one of the best android handsets, they have built a reputation as one of the most bug prone devices out there. According to a new report, Google Pixel users have had enough and many of them are ready to jump to another brand.
Edith Reads says that according to an analysis her company conducted, Google’s Pixel devices have fallen dramatically in popularity, with a whopping 36 percent of owners considering dump the company for another manufacturer.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launched with great reviews but have been the target of many bugs since their October launch, leading to screen issues, fingerprint sensor and connectivity.
While many of those issues have been fixed, some of them continue to annoy users, especially the ones that stem from hardware components. For example, while Google has rolled out updates to address the slow fingerprint scanner, it’s still not as fast as other Android handsets and that’s apparently because the company opted for an optical fingerprint sensor instead of the faster ultrasonic variant. That explains why the budget Pixel 6a is equipped with a new fingerprint scanner.
The Pixel 6 too charges slower than competing devices. While that’s frustrating enough in itself, it doesn’t help that Google gave the impression that the phone supports maximum charging speeds of 30W, when in reality it doesn’t go beyond 22W.
Aside from that, there are some purely software issues that have not yet been resolved, such as the phones automatically rejecting calls from contacts and Android Auto not recognizing the Pixel 6.
That said, not all of these issues affect all users. In fact, it may be minor inconveniences for some. Yours truly owns the Pixel 6 and while they were concerned about potential bugs after ordering the handset, they can’t stop raving about the camera, which Google phones are best known for.
And don’t just take my word for it. Google revealed in February that the Pixel 6 helped it break its quarterly record in the fourth quarter of 2021. More recently, in May, the company said it would outsold the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4 did.
Of course, Pixel phones are still lagging behind established names like Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone in sales, but they’re definitely gaining ground.
That does not mean Trading platforms
is not on anything. Back in May, it was reported that the Pixel 6 was does not do well at courier shops
and the company was forced to run internal promotions to boost sales of the handsets.
So, as the report suggests, Google needs to step up quality control and address bugs right away to make sure it doesn’t lose the small market share it has built up to rivals.
