Our Pact (opens in new tab) is a parental control app (opens in new tab) developed by Eturi Corp, an American software company specializing in device management solutions. Eturi was founded in 2013 by an entrepreneur named Amir Moussavian. He launched OurPact in 2015 to help parents manage their children’s screen time and online activity. In 2020, Eturi took advantage of the lessons of OurPact to launch another device management app, Motiv, which targets business users.
OurPact allows parents to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content online or avoid contact with suspicious individuals. It helps parents to teach healthy device habits to children or even teens.
We tested OurPact to give you a detailed, unbiased review. We rated the app based on specific criteria including features, pricing, ease of use, customer support, etc.
Subscriptions and Prices
OurPact has two paid plan (opens in new tab)† Premium ($7 monthly) and Premium+ ($10 per month). The company gives substantial discounts (2 months free) if you pay annually in one go.
Premium and Premium+ provide access to most features such as app alerts, screen time limits, website filtering (opens in new tab)and rules for messaging apps. However, the Premium+ plan has exclusive features, including taking automated screenshots of your child’s device and viewing them in an encrypted gallery. With each subscription, a user can remotely monitor up to 20 devices.
OurPact offers a 14-day free trial with any subscription. It does not offer a refund after purchase, which we consider a drawback.
Functions
App Rules
OurPact allows parents to restrict specific apps on their children’s mobile devices (opens in new tab)† You can block all apps that you don’t want your kids to access with one touch. You can set schedules for when specific apps are available, for example, educational apps only on school days. You can also use this feature to block texting on your kids’ phones at certain times.
Screen Time Limits
OurPact allows you to control the amount of screen time available to your child. This feature is helpful for parents to establish a consistent routine for their children. You can limit screen time to specific time periods, for example, meals, bedtime, shower times, and school hours. It ensures that your children are less likely to be distracted from their routines by digital activities.
web filter
You can use OurPact to block inappropriate content on your children’s iPhones, iPads, iPod Touch and Androids. Kids aren’t equipped to handle certain types of content, such as adult content or violence, so this is a handy feature.
Family Finder
Parents can use OurPact to track the location of their children. You can also set the app to alert you if your child’s phone is pinging in certain areas.
Screenshots
OurPact lets you take screenshots of your kids’ devices instantly (opens in new tab)and save them in an encrypted gallery. This feature allows parents to monitor their children’s activities regularly without stress.
Interface and in use
OurPact has a pretty complicated installation process. You must download a separate OurPact app for the parent’s device and another for the child’s device. You can download the mobile version from Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google’s Play Store (Android) and the PC version from the official OurPact website.
Unlike most parental control apps we’ve reviewed, you’ll need a Windows or macOS computer to set up OurPact. You will need to install the OurPact Connect PC app and connect your child’s mobile device via USB to set it up. Setting the iOS version requires some changes, such as disabling “Find My iPhone” and in the Android version enabling “USB Debugging” in the Developer Options menu.
Setting up OurPact is more cumbersome than most of the other parental control apps we’ve reviewed. However, the app is quite easy to use after the cumbersome installation.
Customer service
OurPact offers customer support only via email, which is not comparable. Many rivals offer telephone and live chat support for customers to get an instant response. OurPact tries to make up for weak customer support with an expanded knowledge base (opens in new tab) on its official website. The knowledge base contains answers to common questions and tutorials on setting up and using the app.
The competition
OurPact’s main competitors are Qustodio, SentryPC, and FamilyTime. OurPact offers similar features to these competitors. It is also affordable compared to them which is a competitive advantage.
Final verdict
OurPact is a solid parental control app. It provides parents with features to monitor their children’s online activities and prevent inappropriate content or contact. It also allows parents to control their children’s screen time and teach them healthy device habits. Likewise, the app also doubles as a tool to track the location of your kids.
OurPact is affordable compared to the competition and offers an intuitive interface. However, we found some shortcomings, such as limited customer support and a complex installation process. OurPact offers customer support only via email, while many competitors also offer telephone and live chat support. The app has a setup process where you have to jump through a lot of hoops.
