OnePlus just got announced a marketing partnership with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) to support the launch of the OnePlus Nord N20 5G in the United States. A move intended to deepen the company’s presence in North America, it will promote the new marketing partnership to make 5G services more affordable and accessible in this part of the world. 5G was one of the cheapest 5G-enabled smartphones in the country thanks to its price below $300. Unfortunately, the phone is available exclusively in the US through T-Mobile and Metro from T-Mobile, which clearly limits its audience.
However, the marketing partnership is expected to boost OnePlus’ exposure and make the brand known in the country, which in turn will allow the Chinese mobile phone maker to (hopefully) partner with even more US carriers.
As the new official marketing partner of UFC, the OnePlus brand will appear in key UFC assets, including broadcast features on select Pay-per-Views and custom and original content that will be distributed through official UFC social media and channels, as well as digital platforms.
†We are excited to support OnePlus’ commitment to bring affordable 5G to North America. Our research shows that UFC’s fanbase contains more than indices of early adopters of new technology, so this device and our audience make for a great product-market fitsaid Paul Asencio, UFC Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships.
At first glance, the collaboration will be more beneficial for OnePlus from a marketing point of view, but UFC will probably get a lot of money too. The bottom line is that North America, with an estimated 43 million fans in 120 million TV households, is UFC’s largest market, so OnePlus could be on to something here. However, the results will be seen much later, good or bad.
