The new company of former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei Nothing will just let everyone know when it will officially announce its first attempt at a smartphone. The date is July 12 and the time is 4:00 PM BST, and the event is ‘Nothing: Return to instinct†
Nothing has consistently said that the Nothing Phone (1) will ‘be unlike anything you’ve seen before’ or suggest that it will ‘unlearn everything the industry has taught you’.
Those are some pretty big words to live up to, but nothing or nothing, has been known to blow things up a bit when promoting the upcoming products. Whatever the case, we will find out for sure on July 12th and try to keep our excitement at a reasonable level.
What specifications does the Nothing Phone (1) have?
Apart from the confirmed announcement date, Nothing confirmed a few other details either about the Nothing Phone (1) in terms of specifications. For example, we know for sure that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, although the details are unclear here. However, there are two very intriguing tidbits. The Nothing Phone (1) comes with a transparent back cover which, if it comes close to the good job, did nothing with the Nothing Ear (1), should look cool as a cucumber.
The other notable detail we have from the company is a claimed “no chin” meaning the Nothing Phone (1) should have little to no bezel on the bottom. We also know that the center frame will be made from recycled aluminum and that wireless charging will be supported.
How much does the Nothing Phone (1) cost?
That’s the million dollar question. According to serial tipster Yogesh Brar, Noting is targeting the mid-range market, with a forecast price of $500. In other words, the Nothing Phone (1) could be a direct (at least price-wise) competitor to the Galaxy A53 5G and the coming Pixel 6a.
