Netflix is introducing a new feature designed exclusively for the youngest viewers. In a blog postannounced the streaming service “Mystery Box”, a new fun way for kids to discover new shows or “reconnect with a familiar face”.
Now when the little ones log into their kid’s profile, a new sparkly box with a question mark will appear in the favorites row at the top of Netflix’s home page. When they hover over the new box, a preview of a completely random TV show or movie they probably don’t know starts playing. And after that, as Netflix said, “it’s showtime.”
As the streaming giant noted, it’s hard for them to try new things because kids are “attracted to what they like.” That’s why Netflix wants to offer the little ones a fun and safe place to discover their next favorite series and movies with “Mystery Box”.
It’s good to see the streaming service’s continued efforts to make its platform safer and more fun for kids. In 2020 Netflix introduced better parental controlsso parents can see what their kids have seen and filter or block titles that may not be appropriate for their kids’ age.
Last year also Netflix introduced the biweekly kids summarize emails, giving parents a better understanding of what their kids like to see. Back then, the streaming service also added its Kids Top 10 Rows feature, which charts the ten most popular kids shows or movies in your country.
