First impression

The MSI Prestige immediately looks very impressive, with the matte finish, square design and flattened edges giving it an impressive look. There is a unique design in the rear ventilation area and a sleek MSI logo on the top cover, but also a 5 degree bump that is created when opening the cover of this laptop (see photo below), which makes for a better ergonomic typing angle and improved airflow under the computer to keep things cool.

Design and build quality

The design of the MSI Prestige is minimal and modern, with sharp edges and thin bezels. On the left are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a light indicator for power and one for low battery. On the right are a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port, a MicroSD card reader and an Audio Combo Jack (headphones and microphone in one). A fingerprint scanner is built into the top left corner of the trackpad to unlock the laptop if the user opts out of face unlock.

MSI chose three minimalist and streamlined color options. Two for the 14” (carbon gray and bluestone), two for the 15” (carbon gray and urban silver), with carbon gray available for both sizes.

Compared to an ultra-light laptop like the Dynabook ProtégéThis laptop is heavier, but also feels significantly more luxurious. The sharp edges and aluminum finish make it feel like a premium piece of equipment that can handle what you need during a working day. This aluminum building material also contributes to the rigidity of the computer. At no point did we feel like we were holding a fragile piece of glass. This laptop can be tossed in a bag, carried through a complex or taken to a coffee shop without feeling like your laptop needs a cover or need to wrap it in bubble wrap.
