The Motorola Razr 3 sounded like: the clamshell to watch out for, but as they say, no smartphone is perfect, and after months of nothing but good leaks, an unwelcome rumor has surfaced: the phone may use the same battery as its predecessor.
Motorola was one of the first companies to release a foldable device. The first flip phone came out in 2019 and was followed in 2020 by a slightly updated 5G model. Those models had an uninspiring design with very large bezels and midrange specs, but nevertheless came at a high price.
The Motorola Razr 3 is rumored to be a major upgrade over the Razr 5G. The handset is likely to embrace a more modern design with cropped edges and larger indoor and outdoor displays. In addition, it is also expected to feature the recently announced high-end Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip and a higher-spec camera system.
These rumors would have given the Razr 3 a solid chance to beat the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, were it not for the battery capacity.
The first Razr had a 2,500 mAh cell, and it was ramped up to 2,800 mAh for the Razr 5G. The phone barely lasted a day, and a saving grace was the outer unit that allows you to do many normal tasks without having to open the main screen.
Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station
echoed many of the rumors we’ve already heard about the phone: a 6.7-inch inner display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz and a center hole for the rumored 32MP front-facing camera, and a dual-camera array on the front. the rear with 50 MP and 13 MP sensors.
Razr 3 won’t get a bigger battery
There is also a new piece of information: the Razr 3 could have a 2,800 mAh battery. The Flip 4, on the other hand, is expected to have a 3,700mAh cell, which could help it keep its place if the most popular and best foldable phone out there.
However, the new Razr is likely to outlast the Razr 5G as that phone was backed by the 7nm mid-range Snapdragon 765G chip, while the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is not only a premium chip but is also based on the more advanced 4nm process making it more energy efficient.
The Razr 2022 will reportedly be released in late July or August and will cost $1,149 (~$1,208) in Europe, meaning it will be cheaper than the outgoing model.
