How to Fix iOS 15 Poor Battery Life

Written by admin

If you find that your iPhone’s battery is draining excessively after installing the latest version of iOS 15, there are some steps you should take before downgrading your iPhone’s software or contacting Apple customer service.

As we push Apple’s latest iOS 15 release, iPhone users are reporting a variety of iOS 15 related issues. One issue on the list is abnormal battery drain, a common problem that crops up every time the company pushes new software to the iPhone.

Some of these battery issues may be hardware related, but many others are likely related to Apple’s latest iOS 15 software update. In many cases, it could be an app that is causing the problem.

If you experience terrible battery life after moving to iOS 15, you may be thinking about switching to older iOS 15 software. That’s certainly an option if the downgrade is available, but you should try to fix it so you can stay on the current version of iOS 15.

Fixing iOS 15 battery life issues can be tricky, but we have some solutions that have worked for us and many other iPhone users in the past.

Restart your phone

If you start to notice an abnormal drain after installing iOS 15, we recommend that you restart your phone before doing anything else.

Turn off your iPhone, wait a minute, then turn it back on. A quick reboot can have a huge impact on your device’s performance, so this is the first thing you should try.

Update your iPhone

Apple will periodically release new iOS 15 software. Point updates (xxx) usually focus on fixing bugs, while milestone upgrades (xx) usually offer a mix of features and fixes.

The company may not list battery life fixes in the change log of an iOS 15 update, but new software always has the potential to cure your device’s ills.

If a new software update is available, dive into performance feedback and then decide if it’s worth installing.

Check your apps

Applications, especially third-party apps, tend to occur after Apple releases new iOS software. So there’s a good chance that one or more of your apps is the cause of your battery life issues.

Checking the app performance is quite easy on iOS 15 and it can only take a few minutes to find the app or apps causing problems. Here’s what to do:

  • Go to the Settings app.
  • Select Battery.
  • Go to the Battery Usage tool. This tool shows you which apps are draining your battery and when they do.

If you use an app on your phone a lot, it will obviously use more battery than an app you never use. So if you see something unusual, an app you rarely use, say a dead battery, you’ll want to investigate further.

If you see that one or more of your applications is using an abnormal amount of battery, try uninstalling the app from your device and see if that improves your iPhone’s performance.

If the app is essential, we recommend downloading the latest updates. If that doesn’t help and you really need the app to get through your day, you may need to downgrade back to an older version of iOS if the option is available.

Reset all settings

If you determine that your apps are not the cause of your battery problems, then you should try resetting your iPhone’s settings now.

Before you do this, keep in mind that your iPhone forgets known Wi-Fi networks (and Bluetooth connections), so make sure to write down your passwords if you need to before tapping reset.

This is how you reset all settings of your iPhone:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to General.
  • Scroll and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings and enter your passcode if it is enabled.

Once the process is complete, you will need to reconnect your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices.

downgrade

If you can’t find a solution to your problem and/or don’t want to wait for the next iOS 15 update from Apple, you can try downgrading back to an older version of iOS.

Your downgrade options will change over time and downgrading may not be available if Apple stops logging into older iOS software.

Buy a Battery Case or Battery Bank

If you can’t solve your battery life issues and don’t want to carry your phone with you and/or replace your device, buying a battery case or battery bank can help.

If you don’t know where to look, we’ve got lists of the best iPhone 11 cases, best iPhone XS cases, best iPhone X cases, and best iPhone 8 cases to help you out.

In general, we recommend using a ? mophie battery holderbut Apple’s Official Battery Cases are a great alternative if you prefer a first-party accessory.

If you don’t want to put a bulky case on your iPhone, you may want to buy a battery bank.

Battery banks are small, portable power sources that can fully charge your iPhone multiple times. There are a ton of great options out there, but Mophie’s power station and the Anchor Powercore 20 are a few favorites.
