Gimmicky Galaxy Z Fold 3 feature won’t (thankfully) make it to the Galaxy S23: rumor

Samsung’s next S-series flagship, which we assume will be the Galaxy S23 can pass up an innovative Galaxy Z Fold 3 feature that feels half-baked: the camera below the screen.
The internal display of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a camera below the display for an uninterrupted view. The downside is that it doesn’t perform as well as conventional selfie cameras, and while the pixels above the camera aren’t an annoyance for most users, my colleague Peter Kostadinov finds them very distracting.
Some insiders have speculated that the Galaxy S23 would also ditch its pinhole camera for an under-display sensor, but that’s unlikely.
South Korean leaker lanzuk says the Galaxy S23 will not have an under-screen camera. They got this information from domestic parts manufacturers and seem pretty confident that the S23 will continue to use a regular selfie camera.

While the front camera won’t get a cosmetic upgrade, two phones in the series are rumored to be getting higher-resolution sensors.

The 2010 Galaxy S10 featured a 10MP front camera, which was an improvement over the S9’s 8MP front camera. The 2022 Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus still have 10MP cameras, although the state-of-the-art Ultra model comes with a 40MP selfie unit.
According to a recent report, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will boast a higher resolution 12MP front camera. It is currently unknown whether the S23 Ultra will also get a new selfie camera.
The maximum model will probably also sport Samsung’s 200MP camera, which the South Korean giant recently demonstrated. The image looked crisp and detailed, so if this rumor gets out, the Galaxy S23 will easily be able to get the current best camera phones.
Not much else is known about the Galaxy S23 line, which makes sense given that the series isn’t expected to be unveiled before early 2023. Samsung currently appears to be gearing up for the launch of its next foldable phones and watches.
The handful of rumors published so far suggest that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will curved screen and range will likely be powered by the next premium Qualcomm Snapdragon chip in all markets.
