Garmin Forerunner 255 published in agency list, launch looks imminent

One of the most loved and popular Garmin sports watches is finally on track to get a new version soon.

The upcoming Garmin Forerunner 255 has been discovered on the Singapore Government Agency website (via Gadgets and wearables), hinting at an imminent launch, but the list also offered some interesting insights into the new watch.

The upcoming Garmin Forerunner 255 will replace the Forerunner 245 model, which was released about three years ago in 2019.

A favorite watch for runners, loved for its light weight, long battery life and accurate tracking, the author of this article is also a happy user of this watch and can vouch for its durability and comfort.

The new Forerunner 255 is expected to come in two sizes: a regular version that may come in a larger 47mm case, and then a Forerunner 255s (the “s” stands for small in Garmin language), which is expected to be a size of 42mm, similar to the current model. Keep in mind that those measurements are an assumption based on how Garmin measures its Fenix watch models.

As you can see from the above post, the Singapore TLS doesn’t give any details, but it does reveal the model names and numbers.

In addition, you can also buy a regular version of the watches or a “Music” version for a small additional cost. The non-Music models are expected to have Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity, while the Music versions will additionally have a Wi-Fi connection.

Comments on Reddit suggest that the regular Forerunner 255 model will be priced at $350, while the Forerunner 255 Music will be priced at $400.

We don’t see any mention of a fancy solar model, or an OLED screen, but we do expect functional improvements. However, for details on that, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement.
