Everything you need to know

The OnePlus 10 Pro will be released in the US, and while many might argue that the soul of OnePlus went hand in hand with co-founder Carl Pei leaving the company in late 2020, OnePlus smartphones are still a hot topic, especially after their intriguing collaboration with photography darling Hasselblad.

But how will OnePlus’ new direction affect its next flagship phone? The Oppo acquisition looks set to change a lot of things, and while both companies have always technically been similar entities under the umbrella of BBK Electronics, things will never be quite the same for OnePlus, nor for the company’s many avid fans.

OnePlus 10 Pro Release Date

The OnePlus 10 Pro is now available in the US market.

There are no major hardware differences between the US-specific and global versions of the phone, except for the 65W instead of 80W in-box charger in the US, which added four minutes to the 30-minute charge time in our tests. The US will also get a single-storage version with no mmWave 5G support.

Here’s how the OnePlus 10 Pro release compares to previous OnePlus generations:

OnePlus 10 versions

The OnePlus 10 Pro is not the only member of its device family and the list could grow significantly in the near future.

There’s the low cost OnePlus 10R, which comes with a premium looking design and mostly high end specs. Powered by a MediaTek 8100 Max and featuring a large 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080, a 50MP main camera and up to 150W maximum charging speeds, the OnePlus 10R probably won’t make it to the US.

Despite the lack of anything official on the OnePlus 10, rumors claim that a non-Pro OnePlus 10 powered by a MediaTek chipset could be released in the second half of the year. And guess what, a OnePlus 10 sailing under the PGZ110 model number has recently surfaced at China’s TENAA certification website, with mostly mid-range specs, including an FHD+ display, a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip, and up to 12GB of RAM. Being a mid-ranger, the phone probably won’t come with a telephoto lens, but will only feature a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro snapper.
Another part of recent rumors calls for a mysterious OnePlus 10 Ultra, which will be largely similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but will eventually have a periscope camera as well. Little else is known about this upcoming version of the phone, other than that it’s likely to be released sometime in the second half of 2022, possibly in August or September.

OnePlus 10 Pro price

It’s more than obvious that the days of OnePlus’ ultra-affordable flagship phones are long gone, and if none of the latest OnePlus phones have convinced you, the OnePlus 10 Pro probably will. Still, it’s a bit more acceptable than the iPhone Pro Maxes and Galaxies of the world, with a more justified price tag of $899 for the base version.

The OnePlus 10 Pro price starts at $899 for the 128GB model. Notably, the US will not get a 256GB version of the phone, which is available in other parts of the world, nor will it have mmWave 5G.

OnePlus 10 Specifications

OnePlus has top-notch internals worthy of its flagship status and premium price tag. Here’s what makes the ticking and clicking:

OnePlus 10 Pro Review

For what it’s worth, the OnePlus 10 Pro is going to be more of what you already love about OnePlus, but not quite the breakthrough you were hoping for. If your phone is aging and you’re not looking for the ultimate camera, you need to think about it carefully.

OnePlus 10 Pro Comparisons

We have three comparisons with the OnePlus 10 Pro, one with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the other with the Pixel 6 Pro.

What are the OnePlus 10 Pro colors?

The OnePlus 10 Pro is currently available in Volcanic Black and Emerald Green. There’s a chance more colors will be revealed later in the phone’s lifecycle, but we’re a little pessimistic about that.

OnePlus 10 Pro camera

The OnePlus 10 Pro features a triple camera system consisting of a 48MP primary shooter with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and 8MP telephoto lens that supports 3.3x optical zoom, while the 9 Pro omits its fourth 2MP monochrome snapper. On the front, we’re going to take selfies with a rather large 32MP front camera, which doubles the resolution of the selfie camera on the OnePlus 9 Pro.

Here’s a full summary of the camera and its specs:

The ultra-wide camera is especially interesting this time around. It has a massive 150-degree field of view, which is up to four times wider than what most other smartphones offer today, and also has a special “fish-eye” mode for an exaggerated and distorted effect, although purists could use one too. more traditional 110-degree field of view.

The phone features OnePlus Billion Color Solution, which shoots in 10-bit color, takes photos with 25% more DCI-P3 color gamut and can handle 64 more colors than the OnePlus 9 Pro. All three cameras on the back of the OnePlus 10 Pro support 10-bit color, which should basically remove any color streak from photos.

All three of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s rear cameras support a second-generation Hasselblad Pro mode, meaning photos can be captured in 12-bit RAW. These enhanced RAW files contain more information and give expert enthusiasts more latitude to work with afterwards.

Finally, there’s a dedicated movie mode on the OnePlus 10 Pro that allows the user to adjust the camera’s ISO, shutter speed, and more, both while capturing video and before launching. In addition, Movie mode allows shooting in LOG format without a preset image profile, giving video editors a blank canvas to edit. According to OnePlus, videos filmed on the OnePlus 10 Pro in a LOG format offer greater dynamic range, more information in the shadows and highlights.

Does the OnePlus 10 Pro have an SD card slot or an audio jack?

No, the OnePlus 10 Pro does not have an SD card or headphone jack. OnePlus dropped the headphone jack after the OnePlus 6, and the company currently only uses microSD card slots on its more affordable devices, such as the OnePlus Nord 2 CE.

What is the battery capacity of the OnePlus 10 Pro?

The OnePlus 10 Pro packs a large 5,000 mAh battery with what is now OnePlus’ signature super-fast charging. In the case of the OnePlus 10 Pro, we have 80W SuperVOOC charging (65W charger in the box of the US version because of the 110V outputs) and a record-fast 50W AirVOOC charging. Unfortunately, the rumors that we will see a record-breaking 125W charge on the OnePlus 10 Pro have not materialized. As a refresher, we heard that OnePlus was going to throw 125W ultra-fast charging on the OnePlus 10 Pro. Despite that shortcoming, an 80W charge is probably enough to charge the phone in less than 30 minutes.
