You know what’s worse than a big picture frame? An ugly hinge. Fortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is unlikely to have either problem. Leaked photos of a protective case show a familiar yet sophisticated design for the highly anticipated foldable.
As we get closer to the highly anticipated launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Z folding lineup, the internet is awash with information about what users can expect. And while the Z Fold 4 seems to be the star of the show (as it will be the device that will receive the major updates), the Flip 4 is up for some improvements as well.
The photo of the case was shared on Twitter, by leading Samsung tipster IceUniverse. Based on the dimensions of the case, it is very likely that the Flip 4 will make the hinge mechanism smaller.
Improvements in the hinge department are proving to be an important part of this generation of Galaxy Z foldables. Earlier, speculations about similar changes to the Galaxy Fold 4’s hinge also surfaced.
The hinge has long been one of the more problematic aspects of Samsung’s foldables. Where previously the emphasis was more on durability, the main goal now seems to be to minimize the extra mass that the hinge brings.
This is undoubtedly a good thing for the Flip 4. A crucial selling point of the device is its exceptional portability, so making it even more compact will certainly increase the smartphone’s appeal.
However, the dimensions of the case also point to another, rather disappointing, piece of information. The cover screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 does not get the size increase that many hoped to see.
In any case, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will probably be primarily a refinement of its predecessor. Perhaps Samsung will hold off on major design changes over time.
