Chromecast with Google TV finally streams live video feed from Nest Doorbell camera

Google’s own Nest Cam portfolio was sadly not supported by the latest Chromecast with Google TV dongle, but for the 9th anniversary of the Chromecast brand, it was finally decided to bring live feed from the Nest cameras to your TV.

The live streaming capabilities go to any wired or battery powered Nest Camsoutdoor or indoor models, the floodlight version, as well as the Nest Doorbell Camera Finally. Google explains that you can use the Chromecast Voice Remote to choose the camera you want to stream the live feed from, or use a Nest speaker or display.

For example, you can say “show me the front door camera” for the Nest Doorbell, or “Hey Google, show me the front door camera on my TV” on your Assistant device like the Nest speaker.

Google’s acquisition of Nest has not gone as planned, as there is still a lack of synergy between the company’s own products and the Nest portfolio. For example, some Nest thermostats cannot be controlled from the Nest app or respond to the sensor.

The Nest Cam’s livestream video feed will roll out to your Chromecast with Google TV before the end of this week, while other Assistant and Android TV devices are likely to be supported as well.
