What do you get when you take the cases of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and . put side by side Galaxy Z Fold 4? Apparently the only guarantee is a slight disappointment and a lot of fame.
Prominent tech tipster IceUniverse, whose track record regarding Samsung is nearly flawless, shared a juxtaposition of the two cases via Twitter. You’d be forgiven for thinking they both belong to the same device.
In recent weeks, a lot of rumors about the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 4 have been circulating on the internet. The most reliable predict tangible improvements to Samsung’s next-generation foldable devices.
Yet tangible does not necessarily mean visible. At least not if we were to judge by the photo shared by IceUniverse. Admittedly, the cover screen seems a little less narrow and the bezels may be a little slimmer.
Other than those minor tweaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will likely remain largely known. On the other hand, there is still some room for surprise, as some of the expected refinements cannot be derived from cases alone.
The hinge could be more compact and the device generally less bulky than previous generations. Still, given the largely unremarkable leaked spec sheet, foldable enthusiasts were hoping for a little extra spice when it comes to the Fold 4’s design.
As it looks, much of the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s appeal depends on the condition of the fold. The latter has become the bane of the Fold lineup’s existence — and for good reason.
Manufacturers elsewhere have found ways to remove the fold completely. Samsung, the undisputed leader in foldables, is lagging somewhat behind.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will almost certainly manage to grab the attention of the smartphone world at launch. The question is whether it will have the resources to keep it.
