AT&T allows customers to play supernatural hit Control on phones and tablets for free

AT&T is taking its first step into gaming with an interesting offering aimed at those who see themselves as more than just casual gamers. From today, AT&T customers can play Control Ultimate Edition on a smartphone, tablet or PC via Google’s Immersive Stream for Games.

Nominated for Game of the Year 2019, Control is an action-adventure centered on the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive US government agency that studies supernatural phenomena. The game is inspired by paranormal stories about the fictional SCP Foundation, created by an online collaborative fiction project, based on a new literary genre called New Weird.

The so-called Ultimate Edition contains the main game and the previously released expansion: The Foundation and AWE. Of course, AT&T customers don’t have to pay anything to play the game, but they must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a postpaid subscription
  • go to using a phone, tablet or PC
  • Enter the billing phone number and zip code associated with their AT&T mobile account

Obviously, you don’t need to download anything as Google’s Immersive Stream for Games uses cloud streaming technology, which means you need good internet to have a seamless gaming experience. AT&T has not said whether this is the first of a long list of games that its customers can play via cloud streaming technology, but that will most likely depend on the feedback received. That said, after completing Control, I highly recommend playing it even if you don’t consider yourself a “hardcore” gamer.
